LaGuardia Airport, Monday Afternoon

As soon as the foursome from Fandom exited the terminal, a man walked up to Steve, handed him an envelope, and walked off without saying a word. Ah, SHIELD's unnecessary secrecy. How Steve didn't miss it. He opened the envelope and took out two things: the keys to a Porsche and a piece of paper, which he unfolded and scanned. As he read, a grin spread across his face. "Yeah, Tony, you're going to have to sign this before we can leave."

"The contract isn't for driving. It's just for not messing with the car," Steve said. Actually, it was for not accidentally stealing secret technology, but it had been worded very carefully to avoid mentioning that part. "I'll let you drive. Under certain conditions." Like, on the ground.

If they were very nice he might let them fly it for a little while.

"Come on, Stark, I want to get out of here sometime today."

"Patience is a virtue," Tony informed him, scrawling his signature with lazy ease. "There. Can we go now?"

"Please, lets." The airport was huge and busy and there were people bustling around them, and Nathan was starting to feel somewhat on the claustrophobic side.

A pause.

"And for the record, I can't drive."

"Tony will teach you," Tyler offered generously, and started walking off toward the garage with the other three behind, Nathan limping last.

"So Steve," he asked as he walked, "this isn't a teaching basketball to troubled youth kind of vacation, is it?"

"No, this is a doing as little as possible and eating lobster kind of vacation," Steve assured him, keeping one eye on Nathan's progress. "I figured we all needed it, and hopefully it'll keep Tony from complaining too much."

"Is there wifi access?" Tony was a total bitch.

"Is there what?" That there, that was a confused look from the man taking up the rear. One of these days, he'd figure out the 21st century. Today was not it.

"Internet access," Tyler said. "I think he's breeding giant pandas on facebook."

"There is, but this isn't a working vacation, okay?" Steve said. They were approaching the general area where SHIELD kept their cars, so he paused and hit the button on the remote.

Something a few rows over beeped at them. "It's this way."

"Pandas?" Hey, even Tony was lost on that one.

"So far as I know, they're a kind of bear," Nathan offered up, ever so helpfully. "What's a Facebook?"

He was doomed.

"It's a website that exists so you can tell everyone you knew in sixth grade which Care Bear you are." Tyler was being excruciatingly helpful today, clearly.

he paused near where the beeping had come from. "Is that the car?"

"That's the car," Steve confirmed. It was candy-apple red, a convertible, and if it didn't look quite like any Porsche currently on the market, well, there were reasons for that.

Which meant Tony was practically making love to it with his eyes as he ran his hands over the hood. "Not even a peak?"

Oh, he was totally going to when Steve wasn't around.

"Maybe when Steve isn't looking," Nathan suggested. Because he was hopping into the line of very helpful people, this afternoon. "Spare the poor man a heart attack."

Tyler kind of had a thing for nice cars, so he was walking around the Porsche as slowly as he could, drinking it in with his eyes.

"What is this, 2010 model year?"

"Something like that," Steve mumbled as he popped the trunk and tossed his bag in. "I don't know the specifics. And there are some...modifications, of course." At least this one had a trunk. Some of them had weapons systems instead.

"...modifications?" Tony said it in a way someone might say 'bisexual twin Maxim models'.

A tone of voice which would have amused Nathan to no end, if only he had any idea what he was supposed to make of this car in the first place.

"Well, it's certainly... Red."

He liked that color. He could work with that.

Tyler gave Tony a look that asked if he was going to be left for a modified red 2010 Porsche, then dropped his bag in beside Steve's.

"This," he informed Nathan, "is like Christmas came early for Tony."

"The best is yet to come," Steve promised. Or it was, until Tony remembered the contract he'd signed. Then would come either the weeping or the sulking. "Everybody get in the car and I'll show you."

Sulking. And glaring. So much glaring.

After a moment of caressing fondling touching the car hood, Tony sighed and got on in. "I'm waiting."

That, Nathan noted as he followed Tony's lead and heaved himself into the car, was some pretty inappropriate hood fondling.

"Take your time, Steve. Tony has plenty of practise with exercising patience now. Isn't that right?"

"Can we go?" Tyler asked, taking the seat behind Steve's. He'd bitch about the lack of legroom, but he knew he'd get shot if he went for shotgun. "Not that this isn't a totally awesome parking garage."

Steve got in the car, started it, put down the top, adjusted a few things, then said, "We can go," and pulled out of the parking space and started driving...toward the roof of the garage. Not the exit.
