MCA #9, Saturday Morning

Steve returned from his morning run to find a blonde teenaged girl sitting at his kitchen table, crunching away at a bowl of cereal. He stopped dead for a moment, then said, "Right. Day after prom." She was quite a bit older than the usual...special guests, though. So that was different. Steve wasn't going to ask. "Sarah?" he guessed.

((For...me, but open for anyone who wants to drop by!))

"No, they can't."

Bagels were an entirely different story, but then, Sarah was from New York.

"Just two," he replied, looking down. "One with Stephanie, and one with Topher."

"Who's Stephanie?" Sarah asked quickly, alarmed. Some people, who were rude and not funny, always insisted she should have been named Stephanie, since 'it's the female version of Steven.'

"She looked like my mom." Weird. So, so weird. "Stephanie's my girlfriend."

"Yes, but who is she?" Sarah asked. Wait. "Who looks like your mom? Your girlfriend?" That would be okay. Weird, but okay.

"One of my kids." A beat. "Stephanie looking like my mom would be way to weird."

Sarah, you're the worst.

"I didn't do anything! I can't possibly have both kids anyway, so neither are probably real."

Sarah took a bite of her eggs before pointing out, "That doesn't make sense. Parallels aren't an all or nothing thing." Sorry, Tony. "I could totally exist here. Or a version of me." She hoped she didn't, because her childhood had sucked until Steve rescued her, but. She could.

"I don't want kids," Tony replied firmly. "So I won't have either of them."

"It doesn't always work like that," Sarah said, rolling her eyes.

"Which is why it's so important to use birth control," Steve began, attempting to get a teaching moment in, but Sarah interrupted.

"Sure, when you're having kids the normal way." She said 'normal' like it might also mean 'boring.'

"How else would you?" Yes, he was eyeing you, Sarah.

She pointed at Steve with her bacon as he set down a glass of orange juice beside Tony's plate. He was going to get some proper nutrition into these kids if it killed him. "He said it. Mad science is bad. I didn't ask for this," she pointed out when he set another glass down beside her before sitting down to his coffee and eggs.

"Drink it anyway."
